My Convention Experience

Well, Convention 2011 was a few weeks ago now, but the inspiration and friendships will last all year until next convention in Canberra.  This was my first SU! convention and it was amazing.  I loved being able to share the experience with some of my Escape Artist team members Evelyn and Sue, my upline Lisa and fellow team member Deb.  The awards night was shared with more friends and family ~ congratulations to Lisa for her fabulous achievements (including earning the Incentive trip to Fiji) and I was lucky enough to share a hug with SU! co-founder Shelli when I received my 2nd place Rising Star award.  For a more comprehensive rundown of convention, check out Claire Daly's post or Sue Madex's.  I will try to take more photos next year!

We did get some awesome freebies and I was so excited to win a Prize Patrol ~ a new stamp set and co-ordinating DSP from the yet-to-be-released 2011/2012 Idea Book.  You will have to wait a little longer, but I will give you an upcoming sneak peek.  These are the badges and certificate I took home this year.  Thank you to everyone who I share stamping time with, my team mates, my customers, my family, my friends - I really do have the best job in the world.

Here is the swap that I made for this year's convention.  It is always exciting to go with 50 of your own creations, then swap with 50 other stampers to gain fresh ideas and inspiration.

Cardstock:  Naturals Ivory, Whisper White, Rose Red
Ink:  Rose Red, Elegant Eggplant, Melon Mambo, Daffodil Delight, Craft White
Stamps:  Flight of the Butterfly, Elements of Style, Tote-ally Tess
Acc:  Decorative Label Punch, dimensionals

I used the craft white ink over the butterfly backgrounds for a lighter 2-step stamping technique.  The border is made from narrow strips punched with the decorative label punch.  I am loving that punch - stay tuned for more projects using the decorative label punch!

Happy Stamping,
