Marvellous Medallion

Have you seen the medallion stamp (119175) in the autumn/ winter mini cat?  It makes a stunning background or focal point, with the stamped image measuring a whopping 11cm in diameter.  For this card I have taken on a vintage theme, using the natural tones of kraft, soft suede and naturals ivory.

Cardstock: Kraft, Naturals Ivory
Ink: Sahara Sand, Soft Suede, Versamark
Stamps:  Medallion, En Francais, Vintage Vogue
Acc:  Clear embossing powder, soft suede ribbon, clear brad

This is hard to see in the photo, but to give this card an interesting background, I first stamped the vine image from Vintage Vogue in versamark around the edges of the naturals ivory cardstock.  I heat embossed this with clear embossing powder, then stamped over the whole front with the en francais background stamp in sahara sand.  Where the embossed areas are, the ink does not take, leaving a lovely aged effect.  Next I stamped the medallion image in soft suede, gently rubbing with a tissue to remove the ink from the previously embossed areas.  I sponged the edges in soft suede then used the reverse side of the soft suede polka dot ribbon, secured with a clear brad.  Voila, one vintage card. without any ripping, tearing or distressing.
