Hello Haiku

Here are a couple of beautiful cards made using the "Haiku" DSP which is one of the papers on special for this week's Deal of the Week.  The paper co-ordinates with Tangerine Tango, Old Olive, More Mustard and So Saffron.  It has been perfect for oriental styles like the ones shown, or masculine cards. Normally $16.95, it is now $10.17 + postage, until Tuesday 15th June.

Cardstock:  More Mustard, Old Olive, Tangerine Tango, Basic Black
Ink:  Basic Black
Stamps:  Asian Artistry (Level 2 Hostess set)
Acc:  Haiku DSP, More Mustard, Old Olive markers, Dazzling diamonds, paper crimper, earth elements brads, hemp string, dimensionals.

Both cards use the Haiku DSP layered in the background, then a focal image framed in the foreground.  The cherry blossom branch from the Asian Artistry set really complemented the Haiku paper, so that was an easy choice.  The card in black was inspired by a Chinese paper lantern, so after I stamped and sponged the edges of the bamboo image and rounded the corners, I ran it through the paper crimper, as per the picture below:

I stamped the image a second time and cut the bird out and mounted it using dimensionals, then framed it with a piece of basic black cardstock to really make it stand out.  I then used a brad and a piece of hemp string to make the top of the "lantern".
