I made this card for a friend using the "Friends Never Fade" stamp set. I love the texture and flecks found in the "Naturals Ivory" cardstock, it lends a warmth and earthiness to my creations. For this card I clear embossed the main focal point and then used my Stampin' Write markers to apply multiple colours. I also stamped the flower twice, cutting one out to layer on the base image for dimension. A piece of loosely gathered ribbon sets it all off and I punched one edge with the scallop border punch and then taped a strip of Night of Navy cardstock behind to make up the card front. The photos do not really show the sparkle from both a shimmer paint spritz and a generous amount of dazzling diamonds glitter on the flower itself, but in real life it is nice and perr-ty.
Here's how I made the shimmer mist from SU shimmer paint ($11.50/ bottle available in Champagne Mist, Frost White and Platinum).
Take an empty spray bottle and put about 30ml of Isocol (rubbing alcohol - most supermarkets and pharmacies stock this, look for the green bottle with the alligator on it) into the bottle. Add about 10 drops of shimmer paint. Shake really well to mix and then spray onto your cardstock. The high concentration of alcohol stops the cardstock from buckling too much, but it is advisable to spray in a well ventilated area as you will have a decidedly "hospital" smell when using. On the plus side, if you do this on your kitchen bench, you will have a sterile (sparkly) area. If you would like to make coloured shimmer mist, add a few drops of reinker to the mix and shake well to combine.
