Squares of Goodness

Whilst blog surfing a while ago, I came across this amazing collage by Connie Tumm and knew immediately that this was something that I would like to have a go at myself.  The opportunity arose when a beautiful friend of mine moved away and I wanted to make something truly special.  Each little square represented a part of the friendship we share, from a mutual love of paper crafting, to the endless cups of tea as our kids were at kinder, and the beach they were moving to.  I put the collage into an 8" x 10" shadow box frame, the internal mat is approx 5" x 7".

These tiny squares of creativity have allowed many of the smaller, often overlooked stamps and elements in my craft collection to become the focal point. I have loved looking at what I already have with fresh eyes.  The best part is designing each of the squares and then moving them around until you are happy.

I made each individual square 4cm x 4cm and I also used the square and scalloped square punches in the current AUS/ NZ Stampin' Up! catalogue.  The punches measure 1 3/8" (3.5cm) and 1 1/4" (3.2cm).

The cardstock and ink colours I used include Marina Mist, Baja Breeze, Not Quite Navy and Soft Suede.

Elegant Soiree DSP features heavily, and the Big Shot was used to add texture to various pieces and to cut out the butterflies with the Beautiful Wings Embosslits Die.
I made use of the XL 2-Step Bird Punch, the Jewelry Tag punch, Boho Blossoms punch, Modern Label and the Designer Label punch with the Styled Silver Hodgepodge hardware frame at the bottom.

Stamps I used include the following:
  • Pocket Silhouettes
  • Morning Cup
  • Nature's Nest
  • Friends Never Fade
  • En Francais
  • Tiny Tags
  • Cottage Garden
Happy Stamping,
